Re-opening Information

We have missed you more than we can say and we wait excitedly for when we are able to re-open again. We have taken our time away to renovate, deep clean, and look forward to that first beautiful class we take together again!

Here is our phased re-opening plan:

June 8: opening for private and private group classes. Schedule your appointment here

June 13: Yoga on the Green (outdoor classes) begins. Visit our Events page for dates and to preregister

June 20: Studio opens for members only with a light schedule. Become a member to participate in this phase.

July 5: Studio opens to everyone with a full schedule. This date depends on the state's re-opening phasing.

Please take a moment to read our new policies before coming to the studio

We have put careful consideration and planning into creating a new Create Power Yoga standard for our practice together. We have always been dedicated to the cleanliness of our studios and the safety of our community. We will now take this commitment to a higher level. We are aware that some of these policies may sound harsh, but they reflect what is currently necessary for us to run classes and keep everyone safe. Thank you for your understanding.

Here is what to expect when you return to our studio

INCREASED DEEP CLEANING PROCESS:
Our team will use a powerful EPA-registered disinfectant proven to kill viruses in all common areas and on all high-touch surfaces - from door handles to chair seats to the water cooler - after each class.

We continue our commitment to cleaners that do not leave chemical residues. Our EPA-registered cleaning products will be hydrogen peroxide or alcohol based, powerfully disinfecting while leaving only water and oxygen in their wake.

AIR CLEANING: We will be cleaning the air during classes with a hydroxyl generator, which will safely and effectively eliminate virus and bacteria particles in the air while we practice. In addition, our entire space will be cleaned every night using an Ozone Generator. These steps will help ensure the cleanliness of our air and surfaces.

MASK REQUIREMENT IN VIGOROUS CLASSES. Per state mandate, you will need to wear a mask while in the common areas of the studio.
If you are practicing vigorous (power yoga) classes, a mask should be worn.
If you are in an unheated class (Power/Restore or Hip & Back Yoga), you may remove your mask when you are on your mat.
If you and your doctor have decided that you are unable to wear a mask, we understand that and support you.
We've partnered with Peach Athletic to give you access to high-quality athletic performance masks. Buy a mask here
To account for mask wearing, hot classes will still be hot, but slightly less so.

REDUCED CLASS SIZES. In accordance with CDC guidelines, we have reduced class sizes in each studio space to give each student a 6-foot radius while practicing. The hot studio will fit 11, and the unheated studio will have 8. These numbers will also depend on the state's maximum gathering numbers, if applicable.

WE HAVE REMOVED ALL SHARED EQUIPMENT, including blocks, straps, bolsters, and blankets. We will no longer rent mats, and initially will not provide rental towels.

WE WILL NOW REQUIRE PRE-REGISTRATION AND PRE-PAYMENT for classes to ensure a hands-free check in and reduce bottlenecks in our lobby. Pre-registration and payment can be done on our MINDBODY app or through our website schedule. You must pre-register by 20-minutes prior to your class.

NEW CANCELLATION POLICY & FEES. Due to more limited class space, we will now have a 6-hour cancellation policy - please cancel at least 6 hours in advance if you are unable to attend class. If you cancel within 6 hours of your class, there will be a late cancellation fee of $12.
If you wish to cancel within the 6-hour window, you will need to e-mail us your cancellation at createpoweryoga@gmail.com.
If you do not cancel and do not come to class, there will be a no-show fee of $18.
Read our full cancellation policy here.

NO LATE ARRIVALS. We will no longer be able to allow late arrivals for class, to make sure we can keep social distancing in the studio room by limiting movement through the room once class begins. Please arrive before class begins. Our door will be locked when class starts, and you will be charged a no-show fee if you have not yet arrived.

TOUCHLESS TRANSACTIONS. All students will be required to have a credit card on file for touchless in-studio purchases. We will not accept cash at this time.

NEW $7 COMMUNITY CLASSES have been added to the schedule, in recognition of the economic impact of this health crisis. Check our schedule for their times and types. Note: Pre-registration and pre-payment will now be required for these classes, per our new touchless transaction policy.

NEW POLICIES FOR OUR TEACHERS  mean that our teachers will wear a mask while teaching classes for the foreseeable future. Teaching will also be hands off, and our instructors will limit movement in the room to ensure social distancing.

HAND SANITIZER will still be available inside and outside of every doorway for your convenience.

What you can do to help keep our community healthy

PRE-REGISTER for class on our website or the MINDBODY app. This will ensure your spot in class. Waitlists for classes will also be enabled. You must pre-register by 20-minutes prior to your class.

BRING YOUR OWN sanitized mat along with any props you’d like for your practice. We will not provide any props in our classes, but we will have props for sale if you need them.

MASK UP.

AVOID CONGREGATING IN THE LOBBY. We love to chat with you in the lobby, but it’s not possible right now! We do, however, encourage you to hang with your community in the practice room before class, from your mat.

BRING A TOWEL for your use during class, and to wipe down your mat afterward. We will have disinfectant spray for your mat but will no longer provide towels or sponges for wiping down.

LIMIT WHAT YOU BRING WITH YOU. To avoid congestion in cubby areas, we will temporarily avoid using cubbies. Rather, we ask that you limit the number of items you bring with you. New areas for shoes will be marked, and we welcome you to bring limited items into the studio space with you. Cell phones will still not be permitted in the studio space - please leave them with your shoes, or leave them at home or in the car.

ARRIVE ON TIME. To make sure we can keep social distancing in the studio room by limiting movement through the room once class begins, we will no longer be able to allow late arrivals for class. Please arrive before class begins. Our door will be locked when class starts, and you will be charged a no-show fee if you have not yet arrived.

LEAVE THE STUDIO AT THE CONCLUSION OF CLASS to give the instructor time to clean and disinfect before the next class.

IF YOU'RE SICK, STAY HOME. If you have a fever, cough or other symptoms of COVID-19, please do not come to the studio until you’re symptom and fever-free for three days. If you have tested positive for COVID-19, or have knowingly come into contact with someone with COVID-19, we ask that you do not come to the studio for 14 days or until you test negative for COVID-19. If you feel unwell or have any concerns about your health, please stay home and stay safe. We’ll happily welcome you back when you feel healthy and safe again.

What is still the same

WE ARE HAPPY TO ANSWER QUESTIONS. We know it will be hard to leave right after class, because it is the perfect time to ask questions! We will do our best to accommodate, and encourage you to ask relevant questions during class, before class, and even touch base with us via e-mail or social media.

WE PUT COMMUNITY FIRST. Our mission to build community and create a safe space for you to be authentic and at home is still our top priority. As we pivot into this new existence, we will continue to find ways to gather as a community, support each other, and make sure that each one of us is Seen.

DISINFECTING SPRAY will still be provided for you to use to clean your mat after class.

HAND SANITIZER will still be available.

MAT PARKING SPOTS will still let you know where to place your mat; they will just be in different spots.

OUR CLASS SCHEDULE IS THE SAME. All class times and types are the same, as our schedule was already conducive to low-traffic in our lobby and gave instructors ample time to clean. Some of our classes have changed into Community Classes to address the economic impact of this health crisis. Check our schedule here.

WE ENCOURAGE PRIVATE CLASSES. Private classes for you or a small group of friends could be a wonderful way to practice social distancing and limit your contacts, if you're concerned about coming back to in-person classes. See our private class information.

Staying Virtual

Our Virtual Studio will stay as a continuing part of our studio’s offerings. We recognize that some students will simply feel more comfortable practicing at home right now, and will continue to give you all the tools to do that.

Monthly Unlimited autopay members will have unlimited access to our Virtual Studio, giving tremendous new value to membership.

Students with class packages or who use drop-in classes can easily supplement your in-studio practice with a Virtual Studio membership to increase how often you can practice.

Virtual membership ($20/month) gives you unlimited access to classes, kid’s classes, meditations, and tutorials. This platform allows you to take classes with CPY anywhere, any time. All classes are recorded so that you can practice when it fits your schedule. Classes also vary in length from 15- to 75-minutes, to fit into your day.

Class Passes and Drop-ins

CURRENT CLASS PASS AND DROP-IN holders will have the amount of time we were closed, plus one month, added to your pass' expiration date.

Extensions will be placed on all class passes and drop ins by the day we re-open. Please be patient with the enormous amount of administrative work and time that this will take, and let us know if you believe time should have been added and you don’t see it.

OUR PRICING STRUCTURE HAS CHANGED for the first time in 6 years, to reflect the changes in our classes and also as a reflection of time. In partnership with our new pricing, we have added more $7 Community Classes to the schedule to address the economic impact of this health crisis on many of our students. Our membership cost remains the same. See our full pricing information.

Moving Forward

We are taking every action to re-open and keep our CPY community safe and healthy. You may see similar businesses open soon; please know that we may not follow their lead. Our top priority is your safety, and we will not open until it is safe and we are ready.

As time moves forward, our policies will be updated to reflect the most up-to-date CDC recommendations as well as state and federal government requirements.

Whether you plan to join us back in the studio or would prefer to stay home and practice with us virtually, we are here for you. Please reach out with any questions at createpoweryoga@gmail.com.

We are awed by and proud of our community. We have seen what we have always known - that we are stronger when we stick together and raise each other up. While our practice may look and feel a little different than before, we can be empowered by the strength we have shown and the resiliency that we have found.

We look forward to seeing you soon,

Petra and Billy

What our students are saying...

I highly recommend Create Power Yoga! The prices are affordable compared to other yoga studios in the area. Vinyasa is their most popular class and it is a great workout. The staff is always helpful and welcoming, especially for beginners who are hesitant to try a class.

I am a senior and have been going here since 2015. It is amazing how good you feel after class and there is no judging by the instructors or your classmates. Everyone should try at least once. You leave relaxed and limber. And in this stressful environment, you leave with a peaceful and hopeful mind.

My favorite place in the whole wide world. Its the only place I can go and truly feel at peace. I love the new "pop-up classes" and the owner is always going above and beyond to create new adventures for their members. The staff is so super awesome and genuinely caring about your well being. I'm a big fan!

I have been taking classes at Create Power Yoga for a few weeks now and I absolutely love it. The heated classes are the perfect balance of stretch and strength. Breath is emphasized in class. I've never heard so many yogis ujjayi breathing in one place, it is beautiful. I would definitely recommend this studio to anyone looking for some heat and a challenge.

I have practiced yoga in the hot studio for the past year and am thrilled with the move to Newport Ave (within walking distance). At the age of 63 with very mixed abilities, i have been warmly welcomed, encouraged, and guided. Yoga has been very beneficial to me and I am sure you could benefit, too!

I had never taken a yoga class before I tried CPY, but now I don't know why I went so long without trying. It's so relaxing it's hard to believe you're working out! The yoga instructors focus on your breathing, so you are relaxed the entire time! I'm hooked. The instructors at CPY clearly very passionate about what they are teaching and care about how everyone is doing in the class. I can't imagine going to another yoga studio. CPY is perfect for all ages and experience! You have to come check out this studio. It'll change the way you see yoga (I know it did for me).

I've practiced in a lot of different studios, and I've rarely found one as warm and welcoming as Create Power Yoga.

The owners are wonderfully nice and there's always someone who remembers you and says hello. The teachers are fantastic and really interested in creating a good experience for you. The heated studio/hot yoga is perfect for feeling like you are really getting a workout (and it's a great respite from the cold during the winter). It's takes a lot to convince me to go to the gym, but I look forward to coming to this studio to do yoga a few times a week! Also, I would highly recommend this place to someone who is less comfortable with their skill level- there is a great mix of people and the teachers are great about helping (but not pushing too hard), so even I feel comfortable, even though my inverted-something-twisting-pose isn't exactly fitness model worthy.
